Chris Bale

Non-Executive Director

Chris is the CEO at responsAbility Renewable Energy Holding. He was previously CEO Energy with the Honeywell Group in Nigeria and served for a period as CEO of Maji Power, Berkeley Energy’s Ugandan business. He has a broad range of experience from over 30 years of working in the energy sector.

Earlier in his career he held executive roles at Powergen and Scottish Power in the UK, where he had day-to-day responsibility for all the company’s UK generating sites including wind farms, pumped storage, hydro-electric, biomass, CHP sites and major coal and gas-fired plants totalling over 6000MW of capacity. He subsequently served as an Executive Director at the UK Government’s Environment Agency with corporate responsibility for driving Performance and Innovation. He went on to found Ocean Electric Power to develop marine renewable energy projects He is a director of South West Solar Parks, a UK company which has successfully developed utility-scale solar PV projects.

He obtained a BSc in Engineering and holds an MBA from Aston Business School. He attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme and the UK Cabinet Office Top Management Programme. He is a Fellow of the Industry and Parliament Trust and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts Manufactures and Commerce in the UK. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Aston University in 2015 in recognition of his work in the renewable energy sector.
