Project Detail

Boston Hydro Power Plant is a proposed power plant to be constructed on the As river in the Free State Province of South Africa. The project has been submitted under the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Programme. The plant is a proposed run-of-river scheme, employing a single vertical Kaplan turbine.

The project will be financed by Rand Merchant Bank on the debt side, with equity finance being provided through REH by Mergon and Norfund, as well as a broad based black economic empowerment entity. The project will also have local community shareholding similar to the Stortemelk Hydro project.
