The REH Group ensures that its development activities comply with the requirements of the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Performance Standards, These principles and standards provide global standards regarding public consultation and stakeholder engagement, the assessment and management of the environmental and social risks, workforce relations and other aspects relevant to projects undertaken within the power sector.
As a first priority, REH ensures compliance with all relevant national and international standards as regards Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Management. Our processes and plans have been conceived and implemented in accordance with international best practice and are subject to independent audits on a regular basis.
All projects undertaken by REH are classified according to their environmental and social impact, according to the First Equator Principle, and throughout the project development, REH aims to minimize any adverse impacts.
The REH Group has developed an internal Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Management System that prescribes in detail the relevant procedures and processes in place within our businesses that ensure that environmental, social, health and safety risks are assessed and properly managed. Our operations and maintenance subsidiary, REH Operations and Maintenance, undertakes its activities in strict compliance with relevant Health and Safety procedures, and covenants are signed with contractors during construction (and other project phases) to ensure their activities meet the same standard.
REH considers thorough public consultation processes and stakeholder engagement as critical factors to the success of any project. In addition to direct stakeholder engagement, information on our projects, including any status updates relating to potential social and environmental impacts, will be made available to the wider public via our website.
In line with the requirements set out by the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards, REH has established a transparent grievance mechanism. Information and contact procedures relating to the grievance mechanism can be found in this brochure.
